DR. MATT LARSON

OR AN "INSTRUCTIONAL" GAP
Do we know anything from research
that can help us close the
achievement gap? The answer is
yes, and this session will dispel
persistent myths and examine
important findings from the research
community that can be implemented in
schools and districts to close the
instructional gap.
Dr. Matt Larson is
author-in-residence at Houghton
Mifflin Company, having served as
the K-12 curriculum specialist for
mathematics for Lincoln Public
Schools in Lincoln, NE. He is
past chair of NCTM's research
committee and he is a frequent
speaker at state and national math
conferences.
Dr. Larson has taught mathematics at
the elementary through college level
and has served as an adjunct
professor at the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln, where he has
taught in both the Mathematics
Department and the College of
Education. He has co-authored
a number of papers that have
appeared in journals such as the
Journal for Research in Mathematics
Education.
