24 Active Learning Strategies Every
Teacher Can Use
Bill Banks, Kaukauna, WI
Bbanks1@new.rr.com
Learning is not a spectator sport.
Students need to be personally
engaged and actively involved to
learn, making it essential for
teachers to provide active learning
opportunities daily. This workshop
will provide each participant with a
comprehensive bank of over two dozen
practical, easily adaptable, and
highly inclusive strategies that
work across all grade levels and
content areas with a minimum of
prep. The strategies create a
foundation for Differentiation of
Instruction and RtI Tier One
Interventions. They are a must for
any Initial Educator’s PDP plan.
Participants will learn and practice
a wide variety of active learning
strategies through modeling,
co-teaching, and peer evaluation.
They will also learn how to adapt
the strategies to meet diverse
student and content needs.
Participants will create a plan to
use a variety of the strategies
during the first ten days of school
in the fall. They will also create
an assessment model to evaluate the
effectiveness of their plan.
