TRENDS IN YOUNG ADULT FICTION AND
NON-FICTION LITERATURE ACROSS THE
CURRICULUM
Ros Krajewski, West Salem
larryandros@msn.com
Choice and free reading are among
the most powerful tools we have in
literacy education. Students
who read more read better, write
better, and develop larger
vocabularies. This workshop
will provide hands-on opportunities
to apply and discuss comprehension
and writing strategies using both
fiction and nonfiction young adult
literature. There will be an
abundant supply of current fiction,
nonfiction, and professional
resources to read and share.
Research says that in order for
adults to understand and teach
strategies, they must consciously
apply them in their own reading.
Come, read, and created a community
of readers/learners who will explore
ways to create literate classrooms
in all disciplines, spark interest,
and motivate young adults to read
more and think deeper.
