OCEANS 101: SLEEP WITH THE SHARKS

Get ready to discover oceans in a whole new way!  Join the staff of Underwater Adventures Aquarium on a journey like no other.  Begin by learning the science behind seawater, tides and ocean currents and then dive into an investigation of ocean ecosystems.  Take an in-depth look at coral reefs, the sandy seashore, and the open ocean using hands-on activities that can be transferred to your classroom!  We will explore biodiversity, animal adaptations and behaviors along the way.

Wrap up the session with an overnight at Underwater Adventures Aquarium at the Mall of America.  Get ready to sleep under a blanket of sea creatures and take an up-close look at the Aquarium.  See first hand what it takes to run a world-class aquarium and feed over 4,500 animals.  You will have the opportunity to help us feed our animals.  It is a night not to be missed!  As an added bonus, each teacher participant will have the opportunity to invite a child (age 7-12) along for the overnight program.  (Extra fee: $40)

NOTE: Participants will have no class on Thursday, but will convene at the Aquarium at 4 p.m. for an evening program and finish at noon on Friday.
