ENERGY, ALIVENESS, CREATIVITY: RESTORING EDUCATIONAL BALANCE THROUGH EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Sandra Zahn, Education Consultan, Milwaukee
dragonflysz@earthlink.net

Learn to honor what is alive in the moment within yourself and your students by expressing emotional energy in healthy, constructive ways.  Explore Multiple Intelligence Theory and ways to help students focus and access their creativity.  Learn to use breath-work techniques and structured and creative rhythm in the education environment to teach emotional "response-ability," relieve stress, heighten consciousness and stimulate creativity.  Other Therapeutic Art experiences will include collage, sculpture, painting, and drawing - no previous art experience necessary!

Logical and abstract thinking is greatly limited by the inability to process emotion in healthy ways.  Classroom teachers will learn how they can support the development of Cognitive Intelligence by nurturing emotional awareness and healthy expression (Emotional Intelligence).

The power of these techniques to turn potentially destructive emotions into creative, constructive intentions is immense.  These methods can be adapted to all grade levels but are especially powerful for elementary, middle, special education and alternative school settings.
