ACTIVE GAMES FOR GYMS, PLAYGROUNDS
AND CLASSROOMS
Carol Hanson, West Salem
cmh518@centurytel.net
Imagine classrooms, gyms, and
playgrounds where there are no
winners and losers, no elimination,
and everyone participates.
Imagine having over 200 games in
your bag of tricks, ranging from
games for individuals and partners
to whole classrooms and everything
in between.
The focus of this workshop is that
learning and movement are fun, and
games can be a valuable
instructional practice! This
year the ever-popular Active Games
workshop will also include some
playground activities. By
using games and activities, you will
create physically active scenarios
that enhance learning in the K-5
classroom, ranging from teaching
behaviors to teaching content
skills.
Easily used by physical education
teachers, contained classroom
teachers, multiage teachers, and
paraprofessionals, this format
addresses the cognitive development
of all young learners. Come
and see why previous participants
say this workshop "truly exceeded
expectations."
Paraprofessionals and playground
aides welcome on Monday and/or
Tuesday.
Overall workshop rating at Washburn
2007 - 3.6 (4 point scale).
