HOW DO I GRADE THINKING? - PLUS -
DISTRICT TEAM PLANNING
INSTRUCTOR(S): Cris Tovani -Keynoter
and Marilyn Heifner & Melissa Moe,
CESA 11
GRADE LEVEL: 4-12
It
is often hard to gauge what students
know especially when they become
skilled at “playing the game” of
school. During this session,
participants will discover several
ways to assess understanding and
teach thinking. Cris will share how
she uses formative assessment to
guide her instruction and improve
student achievement. Teachers will
learn different ways to plan,
differentiate instruction, and hold
students accountable for accessing
difficult text.
This session will provide
participants with 2 days working
with Cris Tovani and will continue
with 2 days of facilitated district
teamwork for purposes of designing
units and lessons that utilize the
instructional practices shared by
Cris. Middle school and high school
teams with cross-content
representation will find this
session useful for instructional
planning.
