HANDS-ON, MINDS-ON SCIENCE
INSTRUCTOR(S): Larry Scheckel, Tomah
School District
GRADE LEVEL(S): 2-10
This is an all new physical
science workshop! You will construct
many make-and-take items out of all
materials supplied or easy to
obtain. Participants will make a
device to put a student inside a
soap bubble, a pendulum lab, a
simple pulley for simple machines, a
fan cart, a climbing mouse, a
flaming dollar bill, a standing wave
machine, two persistence of vision
devices, a curve ball thrower, a CD
hovercraft, a hydrometer, and
chemiluminescence (light sticks).
You will explore air pressure demos,
match stick rocket, a bee that
lights up with LED’s magnetism, Gro
Beast with graphing, astrobright
paper (acids and bases), tornado
tube, and study the science of
yo-yos and surface tension. Join us
and discover effective strategies to
harness your student’s natural
enthusiasm.
