STANDARDS-BASED MATHEMATICS:
RESEARCH-BASED INSTRUCTIONAL
STRATEGIES

GRADE LEVEL: 6-12
CREDIT: 1, 2 or 3
This course will examine various
research-based instructional
strategies to promote student
engagement in mathematics.
Participants will deepen their
understanding of the mathematics
content standards while exploring
strategies focused on writing,
vocabulary and cooperative learning.
Participants will have the
opportunity to plan and present a
mathematics lesson using the
demonstrated strategies.
In addition, participants will:

Deepen content knowledge of the
state standards in mathematics
across all strands
-
Develop familiarity and comfort
using various research-based
instructional strategies.

Reflect on the strategies and
their relationship to teaching
mathematics and meeting
individual student needs.
