DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION

INSTRUCTOR(S): Dr. Thomas Guskey, National Consultant (Tuesday morning only) Judy Schultz, West Bend School District
GRADE LEVEL: K-12
CREDIT: 1 or 2 (This workshop will meet on Tuesday-Friday) (Registration cost = $310.00)

This course will follow-up the keynote address offered by Dr. Thomas Guskey, "Differentiating Instruction with Mastery Learning".  The Mastery Learning process, applied properly is an effective and practical approach to meet the varied needs of a greater number of students in your classroom.

Mastery Learning proposes that all children can learn and be successful but may differ in the time this takes.  Also, the responsibility of learning can be transferred from the teacher to the student.  Participants will learn to use correctives, re-teaching, enrichment and feedback, as well as other strategies to differentiate instruction.

Using the concepts of Mastery Learning to differentiate, participants will develop hands-on materials to use in their classroom.  Participants will develop new strategies, activities, lessons and assessments to help reach every student.  Participants should bring curriculum materials to class so that they can produce usable classroom products.  As the participant moves from theory to practice they will impact learning for a greater number of students in a quality manner.
