MEETING STUDENT NEEDS WITH ASSISTIVE
TECHNOLOGY

What can you do for a student who is
struggling in your classroom?
What can you provide to help them
keep up with their peers?
This class will help both regular
and special education teachers
explore the field of assistive
technology and identify ways to help
struggling students achieve in the
classroom. Course participants
will learn the legal requirements of
public schools for the provision of
assistive technology. Best
practices in assistive technology
will be examined and factors
contributing to the successful use
of assistive technology devices and
tools will be identified.
Come and explore hardware and
software products designed
to assist students to be successful.
Teachers in this hands-on class
will explore a variety of
products designed to
provide accommodations or
adaptations for people with
disabilities. Boardmaker,
AlphaSmarts, Kurzweil, and word
prediction programs featured in Word are just a few
of the technologies available in
this class.
