INSTRUCTOR(S):  Jerry Anderson, SRA Historian-in-Residence
GRADE LEVEL: 4-12

Scandal and music, candy and crime, toys and politics, sports and presidential secrets, feminists and food, the history of words and slang, race relations and conspiracy theories - the secret and not-so-secret stories of the captivating, unusual and engaging people, events and circumstances that are never taught in the history/social studies classroom.  Take an excursion into the past.  What secrets, skeletons, lies and laughter will we find?  Come with an open mind and ready for some fun.  From Napoleon to the Popsicle, from the chocolate chip cookie to presidential love affairs, from Queen Victoria to Mae West, from Jack the Ripper to Walt Disney, from words of the famous to the infamous words, from Jesse James to the Tootsie Roll, from the ancient Greeks to modern politics, food and history - why do we say it?  Where does it come from?  A demonstration of how to use entertaining and engaging facts, stories, details, anecdotes and films to both fascinate and educate students.
