INSTRUCTOR(S): Connie Wolf, Lead Facilitator for the NBPTS
GRADE LEVEL: K-12
CREDIT: 2

More and more teachers in Wisconsin are learning how to energize their teaching and grow professionally through the National Board Certification process.  The state of Wisconsin grants stipends and rewards for teachers who have this certification, and National Board Certification is one path to the Master Educator license as part of the new PI-34 licensing system.  Find out what National Board Certification is all about and learn the skills teachers need to succeed in this process.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

bullet

Match the standards of the National Board to their own practice;

bullet

Describe, analyze and reflect on their teaching;

bullet

Write effectively about their practice;

bullet

Document student leaning the their classroom;

bullet

Begin the National Board process with confidence; and

bullet

Explain how National Board certification fits into the new PI-34 licensing law in promoting student academic
achievement through collaboration and teamwork.

Participants will be assessed through informal class discussion and a written paper which directly relates to the National Board standards and exercises.  For those teachers who which to earn graduate credit, a follow-up assignment, which directly relates to their teaching, will be required.
