CREDIT: 1
(Monday-Wednesday only.
Registration Cost = $200)
This course has been designed for
school districts currently utilizing
Math Trailblazers as the key
component of their K-5 mathematics
curriculum. Participants new
to Trailblazers will receive an
overview of Trailblazer's
mathematics philosophy and concept
spiral, how mathematics facts are
developed, pacing, unit and grade
level assessment, and grading.
Participants who have had experience
with Trailblazers and previous staff
development will focus more in depth
on differentiation of instruction
and assessment. Small group
sessions will look at the
differences between the 1st
and 2nd editions of the
Trailblazer's observation tools and
rubrics, reading and writing in
mathematics, addressing advanced
challenged student needs and
additional topics based on interest.
Special attention will be made to
individualizing instruction to meet
all students' needs. Change
and how to support it in your
building will also be addressed.
All of this will be intermingled
with fun, challenging mathematics
activities.
