ACCESS TO SUCCESS: Literacy
Strategies that Foster Achievement
INSTRUCTOR(S):
Ann Zindler & Gretchen Egner,
Waukesha School District
GRADE LEVEL: 7-12
CREDIT: 1, 2 or 3
Reading expert Richard Allington
asserts that "Kids can't learn form
books they can't read." Teach
your students to become literate in
your content area with
easy-to-implement strategies and
tools that will boost student
success. This richly
collaborative course provides
techniques to engage students with
the language of your subject, making
the material accessible to all
students regardless of their
incoming reading level. Class
discussion will include practical
ideas for including multiple texts,
gaining more time for small group
and individualized instruction, and
incorporating more student choice
while maintaining curricular
standards.
