REACHING ALL STUDENTS THROUGH
CO-TEACHING (ALL, WITH AN EMPHASIS
ON ELL)
INSTRUCTOR(S): Niki Nestoras, School
District of Elmbrook and Helen
Tselentis, Vieu School
GRADE LEVEL: K-12
CREDIT: 1, 2 or 3
Co-teaching is one of the fastest
growing inclusive practices in our
schools. It is a dynamic way
to create powerful learning
experiences for all students in the
classrooms. Co-teaching
combines the curricular knowledge of
a classroom teacher with the skills
and strategies of a special
education teacher, an ELL teacher,
or other support staff as they share
in the planning, instruction,
support and assessment of all
students in a classroom. This
class will explore how teacher work
together to improve the performance
of all students, especially ELL
students and students with
disabilities. time will be set
aside for teams of teachers to work
together and plan for the school
year using the strategies covered in
the class.
