EXPLORING WISCONSIN'S NATURAL
RESOURCES IN AND OUT OF THE
CLASSROOM
INSTRUCTOR(S): Carrie Morgan/Janet
Hutchens/Lis Olson/Lindsay Haas,
Department of Natural Resources
GRADE LEVEL: K-8
CREDIT: 1 or 2 (High School
teachers with approval of
instructor)
Wisconsin, the place we call home is
also home to an amazing variety of
plants, animals and special places.
This course will provide teachers
with hands-on activities and a
backpack full of Department of
Natural Resources education
resources to help teach science,
reading, language arts, and health
with an environmental theme.
We'll keep the class moving as you
learn about wolves, whooping cranes,
air quality, groundwater, wetlands,
invasive species and environmental
literature for children. We'll
provide participants with the best
contemporary environmental education
resources (including Project WILD,
Project Learning Tree and Project
WET) available to help skillfully
teach about natural resources in
Wisconsin. You'll swap ideas
with other teachers on how to bring
environmental education activities
into the classroom, learn how to
take the first steps into making
your school a "Green and Healthy"
School, and get your "fee wet" on
our field day. Classroom
activities are compatible with
instruction in science, health,
language arts, and reading and are
great for students of all abilities.
