M101-Mathematics in the Cards
A Program for K-8 Educators

Learn to enhance your math curriculum with
hands-on large and small-group activities
that use nothing more than a few decks of
cards and cribbage boards. Turn everyday
playing cards into powerful manipulatives
for everything from simple addition to
complex statistics. We will learn how a
variety of card games solidify essential
math concepts while ensuring students are
learning, engaged and having fun. Cards
games are perfect for differentiation,
allowing some students to calculate odds
while others can count and combine.
This session will make connections to
Everyday Math and Connected Mathematics
(CMP2) lessons and units, offering ways to
reinforce skills and concepts. Participants
will have time to create lessons tailored to
their grade levels and teaching styles.
