“It’s Time”
invited adults who work with
elementary through high school youth
to enter into the lives of youth
touched by depression. Participants
gain:
Understanding of
depression and related conditions
and the signs of depression in youth
Skills to apply
in the classroom to engage and
support students dealing with mental
health issues
Communication
skills for conversations with
students, parents and other school
staff
A sense of the
positive impact that their
interactions with struggling
students can have
An opening to
identify and address their
experiences with mental illness in
their personal lives.
The compelling program includes
video-stories of diverse youth,
informative slides, art and
animation. The teens’ stories
provide examples of specific ways
that teachers offered effective
support in the school environment.
Through the use of filmed stories
edited together with artful and
informative slides and animations,
McKenzie facilitates a connection
between the heart and the intellect
that motivates change.
