Reaching and Teaching

INSTRUCTOR(S): Carol Bahrke, Howard-Suamico School District, Green Bay, WI
GRADE LEVEL: PreK-12
SUBJECT: All academic areas, counselors & administrators

This course is designed to provide educators PreK through college with strategies to teach your content, run meetings and/or run groups, that will help you accomplish rigorous learning results while building an inclusive environment.  The class content is taught by modeling these strategies so it's a blast!  Participants will reflect on their personal and district practices as they explore research on healthy youth, resiliency, and character education.  The seven blocks of the Standards of the Heart, which are found in the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's Characteristics of Successful Schools, will serve as a basic framework for the class.  The goals of the workshop are for educators to utilize the strategies for developing classroom and school environments that build character, reduce discipline issues, and meet RTI criteria with strategies that work for all.

Wisconsin State Teacher Standards Addressed: 1,2,3,4
